Building a pool is exciting, but we know it also comes with plenty of questions. From “How long will it take?” to “What’s the best option for my space?” – we’ve heard them all. Here are the answers to the questions that come up in almost every conversation we have with Melbourne families.
Fibreglass pools typically take 8-12 weeks from consultation to swimming, while concrete pools need 12-16 weeks due to their custom nature. Weather, council approvals, and site access can affect timing, but we'll give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout.
Fibreglass pools are pre-made shells that install quickly with minimal maintenance. Concrete pools are built on-site for complete customisation but take longer. Vinyl lined pools use a flexible liner over a frame structure. Fibreglass and concrete pools are your best long-term options.
Most pools require council permits and building approvals. We handle all the paperwork for you, including engineering plans, soil tests, and council submissions. It's part of our service - you don't need to navigate the red tape yourself.
It depends on your pool's size, location, and how you use it. Generally, expect $1,200-$2,000 per year for chemicals, cleaning, and basic servicing. Larger pools cost more, pools under trees need extra cleaning, and fibreglass pools are cheaper to maintain than concrete. Energy efficient equipment will help keep running costs down too. We'll teach you the basics during handover and then recommend you engage a pool service company.
We build pools year-round, but starting in autumn or winter means you'll be swimming by summer. Spring is our busiest season, so booking early gets you better scheduling flexibility. Weather can slow concrete pours in winter, but fibreglass installations are less affected. The bonus of off-season building? You'll beat the rush and have your pool ready when everyone else is just starting to think about theirs.
